What is Encryption? Bascially the file is scrambled. Like the signal on your TV channels that you do not subscribe too. Click Here for a definition.
When your data is backed up is it first encrypted using a password. When you install the software you are asked to either use a system generated password or use a password that you type in. We recommend that you use your own password. Choose one that you will never forget. We use that password to encrypt your data as it leaves your machine. It is stored on our servers encrypted.
This private encryption key ensures that nobody anywhere can access your confidential information.
This is a similar security mechanism to what banks and the military use.
Physical Security
Our world class data center is located in the ideal environment. Yes we have a raised floor. Yes the room is cooled down into the 60's. To get access to the server room you would have to pass through three different locked doors plus people in charge of security.
Our servers run 24x7 and we simply must have top of the line services. In fact our servers have been in this location since 1996.
Backups of backups?
All backups are stored on industry leading RAID Arrays with multiple levels of redundancy. Essentially this means if we have a hardware failure, in minutes we could regenerate your data and be back to full speed.
